Gilson Nunes
Professor Gilson Nunes De Oliveira Neto was born and raised in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. He started training in Brazilian jiu jitsu at the age of 12 under Paulo ‘Maninho’ Ivano and was promoted to black belt in 2010 at the age of 20. Professor Gilson opened his own school in Fortaleza under the Checkmat affiliation and has since promoted 10 of his own students from white belt to black belt.
As a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Gilson has 22 years of experience in competition and teaching. He is highly accomplished and respected, earning his reputation in the grappling circuit through wins over big names. He competes nationally and internationally, constantly working to expand his skill set and better his teaching abilities.
Gilson values consistency and discipline; he believes that through hard work and dedication, anyone can better themselves no matter where they are starting from.
